Vice President Dhankhar Asserts India’s Sovereignty Amid Criticism from Abroad
In a strong statement, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized that India’s democracy and judicial system are steadfast and not subject to compromise by external entities. Dhankhar made these remarks at the 70th Founders’ Day celebrations of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) while inaugurating its renovated premises.
Dhankhar asserted, “India does not need lessons from anyone on the rule of law,” in apparent reference to recent comments made by the United States regarding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He highlighted the unique nature of Indian democracy and the accountability that the law imposes on all individuals, regardless of their status.
The Vice President questioned the justification behind certain individuals or groups resorting to protests or creating a facade of victimhood when facing legal consequences. He stressed that corruption no longer provides any form of benefit and instead leads to criminal prosecution.
Furthermore, Dhankhar praised the Indian judiciary for its pro-people stance and emphasized the need for India to have representation in the United Nations Security Council due to its constitutionally structured democracy at all levels.
Overall, Vice President Dhankar’s comments underscore India’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining its sovereignty in the face of external scrutiny.
