Kerala CM Vijayan questions screening of ‘The Kerala Story’ for church youth wing members

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed his concern over the screening of the controversial film “The Kerala Story” for the youth wing of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. In a strong statement, Vijayan warned minority communities in the state against falling into the “trap” of Sangh Parivar forces.

Vijayan criticized the film, calling it a propagation of “absolute lies” and stated that it portrays the state of Kerala in a poor light. He also drew parallels between the actions of the RSS-led Sangh Parivar and Hitler’s targeting of minority communities like the Jews and Communists.

On the other hand, the spokesperson of the Tamaraserry diocese defended the screening of the film, stating that it had been cleared for viewing. He emphasized that there was nothing political about showing the film to the youth wing and praised the Idukki diocese for taking the initiative.

In contrast, the Thalaserry diocese has stated that they have no plans to screen the film in their churches.

It remains to be seen how this controversy will unfold and what actions will be taken by the church authorities in response to the criticisms raised by the Chief Minister.
