Rekha Patra, the face of the Sandeshkhali movement and the BJP’s candidate for West Bengal’s Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency, has received a motivational call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who termed her a “Shakti Swaroopa”.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister advised Patra on the line of campaigning to be adopted in the Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency, suggesting that she should highlight the alleged harassment faced by women in Sandeshkhali and the corruption in the implementation of centrally-sponsored projects in West Bengal.
A resident of the Patrapara area in Sandeshkhali, Patra rose to prominence as a leader in the movement against alleged sexual violence by local Trinamool leaders. She was living a quiet life in a rural hamlet before stepping into the realm of politics.
This motivational call from PM Modi comes at a crucial time for Patra, as she gears up for the upcoming elections in West Bengal.
