Arjun Singh Joins TMC for Worker Safety, Returns to BJP #politics

Arjun Singh, a former TMC member who recently rejoined the BJP, spoke out against the violence faced by workers in West Bengal. Singh cited the need to protect workers from violence as the reason for his decision to switch parties. He recounted how police and TMC-backed goons targeted BJP workers, leading to deaths, job losses, and displacement. The situation was particularly dire for women living near the Bangladesh border, he noted.

Singh’s move back to the BJP comes after the aftermath of the 2021 assembly elections in which he had briefly joined the TMC. The elections saw widespread violence against opposition party workers, including arson, sexual assault, and intimidation. Following the unrest, the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the incidents. Singh’s return to the BJP marks his continued commitment to addressing the issues faced by workers in the region.
