CPM and Congress vying for support from Muslim community in Kerala, says BJP candidate Abdul Salam from Malappuram #politics

Malappuram BJP candidate and former vice-chancellor of Calicut University, M. Abdul Salam, has accused the communists and Congress of competing to appease the Muslim majority in the district as voting for all 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala is set for Friday, April 26. Salam, who was nominated from the Muslim-majority Malappuram constituency, criticized the focus on religious beliefs over national interest, stating, “Any citizen can cast their vote at any time on polling day, giving importance to the country.” Salam emphasized his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to make India a world power, pointing out that Muslims in Kerala should not be swayed by false campaigns against the BJP. He also refuted claims about being excluded from Modi’s road show, clarifying that he was not invited to join the campaign vehicle with the Prime Minister due to pre-arranged arrangements.

Salam highlighted the significance of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in addressing the needs of minority communities affected by Partition, urging Muslims to understand the reasons behind their exclusion from the list of eligible immigrants for citizenship. He underscored the need for the Muslim community to prioritize national interest over divisive issues such as Babri and Gyanvapi, urging well-educated Muslims to be aware of the current political landscape. Additionally, Salam emphasized the importance of Muslims aligning with the BJP for future growth and progress, despite reservations from some within the community.

While facing challenges in gaining support from the Muslim community, Salam expressed optimism in the gradual acceptance of Modi’s leadership and policies among young Muslims, especially women. He called on Muslims to look beyond outdated issues and align themselves with the mainstream for the betterment of the nation. Additionally, Salam addressed concerns about potential alliances between the BJP and Christians, asserting that such partnerships could benefit both communities.

As the Lok Sabha elections in Kerala draw near, Abdul Salam remains steadfast in his commitment to promoting national interest and unity among diverse communities in the state.
