“Bharat Expresses Strong Disapproval of German Diplomat’s Criticism Towards Delhi CM’s Arrest” #politics

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday condemned the German Foreign Office Spokesperson’s remarks on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest as “most unwarranted” and accused them of interfering in India’s judicial process. The MEA summoned the Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy and expressed strong protest against the comments on India’s internal affairs.

“We see such remarks as interfering in our judicial process and undermining the independence of our judiciary,” the MEA stated. They emphasized that India is a “vibrant and robust democracy with rule of law,” adding that biased assumptions made on this matter are uncalled for.

The German Foreign Office had expressed their expectation of the standards of independence of judiciary and democratic principles to apply in Kejriwal’s case. In response, a spokesperson for the German foreign ministry mentioned that Kejriwal is entitled to a fair trial and presumption of innocence.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has accused Kejriwal of being the kingpin of an alleged excise scam and conspiring with other ministers in the Delhi government. Kejriwal has been sent to six days of ED custody.

India’s reaction to the German diplomat’s remarks comes in the midst of political tensions surrounding Kejriwal’s arrest, just weeks before the Lok Sabha elections.
