Assam Chief Minister Assures: No possibility of infiltration with PM Modi at the helm #politics

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared on Friday that the state will remain free from any infiltration attempts from Bangladesh as long as the BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is in power at the Centre.

Speaking at a public gathering in Dibrugarh, Sarma confidently stated, “I want to assure the people of the state that not even a bird can intrude on Assam from Bangladesh with Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India.”

Sarma took aim at opposition leader Akhil Gogoi, dismissing his claims that there would be an influx of people into Assam once the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is implemented. “Where are those people? Only one application was placed on the portal seeking citizenship under the provisions laid down in the CAA,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister demanded an apology from Gogoi and other opposition leaders who were at the forefront of the anti-CAA protests in Assam. He held them responsible for the deaths of five individuals during the demonstrations. Sarma highlighted the progress made in maintaining peace in the region, citing the signing of the Bodo peace accords and the return of ULFA cadres to the mainstream.

“Earlier, Assamese people celebrated Bihu amid the sounds of bullets and grenades. Now, we have made significant strides towards peace and unity in Assam,” Sarma declared, noting the absence of divisive slogans in the current political climate.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to safeguarding Assam’s borders and maintaining peace and security in the region.
