Karnataka BJP refers to suspects in Bengaluru cafe blast as ‘associates’ of Congress #politics

The Karnataka BJP on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Siddaramaiah government following the arrest of two men by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Bengaluru cafe blast case, calling the terrorists the ‘brothers’ of the Congress.

In a statement on social media, Karnataka BJP stated, “National Investigation Agency (NIA) detains ‘Brothers’ of Congress in Rameshwaram Blast case. Ever since Jihadi Tipu Sultan’s admirers came to power in Karnataka, terrorists have got a free ride.”

The BJP further criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s policies, accusing him of creating an environment where ISIS has been able to establish a presence in Karnataka. State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra also warned Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, stating that his name could be included in the “list of anti-nationals” if his conduct continued.

Vijayendra highlighted the “my brother policy” of the Congress government in Karnataka, referring to Shivakumar giving a clean chit to accused individuals in previous cases. Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka labeled the blast as a “terrorist act”, blaming Siddaramaiah for emboldening terrorists whenever he comes to power.

The NIA arrested bomber Mussavir Hussain Shazib and his accomplice Abdul Matheen Taha in Kolkata. Shazib, also known as Shazeb, is a resident of Thirthahalli town in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, while Taha is wanted in other cases as well. According to NIA sources, Shazib placed the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the cafe, while Taha masterminded the planning and execution of the blast.

The NIA had been tracking their movements in Assam and West Bengal before apprehending them, with both individuals having a combined reward of Rs 10 lakh on their heads.
