Dr. Rita D. Shrema

Professor Rita Sherma holds a Masters in Religious Studies and a Ph.D. in Theology and Ethics from Claremont Graduate University, CA. Her areas of academic expertise include theology in world religions, comparative studies on the feminine divine, and philosophy in Dharma Traditions. She is currently Director of the Institute for Theology Beyond Boundaries, and executive director of the School of Philosophy and Religion at the Taksha Institute, VA. She has published widely on religion and philosophy, authored or co-edited a number of volumes including Hermeneutics and Hindu Thought: Toward a Fusion of Horizons, a forthcoming book The Feminine in Hindu Thought: Reflections and Reclamations, and Dying, Death, and Afterlife in Dharma Traditions and Western Religions. Dr. Sherma teaches meditation, and has developed the Luminous Vision Healing Method (Luminous Yoga), a contemplative system of meditation, envisioning, kinaesthetics, biodynamic action, and clear awareness, which has been taught nationally and internationally for over a decade.
