Professor Chakravarthi Ram-Prasad

Presently a faculty at Department of Religious Studies, Lancaster University, UK, Professor Chakravarthy’s areas of expertise include Indian and comparative epistemology, metaphysics and philosophy of religion; religion and politics, especially foreign policy; South Asian religious identities in contemporary Britain; the conceptual sources of modern Hindu life and beliefs. Author of several books and papers, his current areas of research among others include “Theories of consciousness derived from classical Indian thought”, “Religion and politics, with a focus on the theoretical possibilities offered in interpreting political and public religion in the world, outside the constraints of the modern liberal Western experience” and “Comparative study of Indian and Chinese philosophies, especially on the issues of self and knowledge”.
